Kandy Esala Perahera, popularly known as the “Festival of the
August Moon” is an annual religious and cultural pageant held
in honor of the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. Beautifully costumed
elephants and Kandyan dancers, drummers and torch bearers, whip crackers
and Kandyan Chieftains dressed in their traditional costumes parade
the streets of Kandy, the Ancient Hill Capital of Sri Lanka, for ten
nights culminating on the full-moon night of the month of Esala (July/August).
We invite you to join us at this unique Festival.
