Festival of the August Moon
 


Kandy Esala Perahera, popularly known as the “Festival of the August Moon” is an annual religious and cultural pageant held in honor of the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. Beautifully costumed elephants and Kandyan dancers, drummers and torch bearers, whip crackers and Kandyan Chieftains dressed in their traditional costumes parade the streets of Kandy, the Ancient Hill Capital of Sri Lanka, for ten nights culminating on the full-moon night of the month of Esala (July/August). We invite you to join us at this unique Festival.


Day 1 - Arrival, transfer to Colombo, Accommodation at 5 Star Hotel . In the afternoon Colombo city tour, visiting shops.

Day 2 - After breakfast leave for Sigiriya – the most impressive historical monument of Sri Lanka (UNESCO declared World Heritage Site). After sightseeing in Sigiriya proceed to Dambulla Rock Temple (an UNESCO declared World Heritage Site), En route to Dambulla visit a Batik factory and Spice Garden. After the Rock Temple proceed to Kandy. Dinner in the night view the Festival of the August Moon (Kandy Perahera Festival).

Day 3 - After breakfast city tour of Kandy. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route visit a tea plantation / factory where the world famous Ceylon Tea is manufactured. Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 4 - After breakfast City tour of Nuwara Eliya. Proceed to Beach Site. Beach holiday as per the choice of the client. During the stay various trips are available.
