The dawn of the year 1945 saw the downing and abandoning of arms which culminated in the conclusion of World War II. It was at this juncture that the sprouting of Ceylon Carriers in the field of transportation originated with an imperturabable personality such as the Late Charles Nanayakkara. In a dilapidated building in the vicinity of Colombo,He commenced an establishment which carries today the renewed name "CEYLON CARRIERS". With a few purchase of vehicles from the British Military authorities, He thus began a long road which at that time may have been viewed only as a mirage; nevertheless, with hard, diligent, dedicated and self disciplined work, gave Sri Lanka today one of the largest Transport and Travel Organisations.

Undaunted by obstacles, Ceylon Carriers steered it's way through the right path to progress. And since then, it has Maneuvered its way through millions of miles of transportation, be it goods or tourist traffic, through every nook and corner of our Sunny Island. The Grand Oriental Hotel was the birth of a new venture in their tourist field and in this cradle they did commence, solely on being appointed as concessionaires who arranged tours for the clients of this Hotel. Careful nurturing has enabled Ceylon Carriers to grow from strength to strength. One would not have positively envisaged at the very inception such achievements for Ceylon Carriers in today's context. Travelling such a long way with very small beginnings from the rough and tumble to the sophistication of today, it boast of a large fleet of vehicles comprising of trucks, trailers, cranes, forklifts, luxury coaches, passenger vans and prime movers for containerized cargo etc.

Immaterial of size or weight or if it is inland or off-shore or if it is foreign or native, Ceylon Carriers can undoubtedly handle anything anywhere, to the entire satisfaction of our clients in whatever category it may be.

Today the administration is in the hands of the 2nd generation, headed by the present Group Chairman Mr. Rohan Nanayakkara who strictly abides by the guidelines and codes of business ethics laid down by the founder chairman the late Mr. Charles Nanayakkara.
